Lovely city filled with art and elegance, renowned for its Renaissance treasures of Correggio and Parmigianino. The city of Parma hosts most of these two local painters’ artistic heritage on the international level. Parma was founded in the 2nd BC, and then dominated in the following centuries by the Houses of Farnese, Bourbon and Marie Louise (Duchess of Parma and Piacenza between 1814 and 1847).

The famous perfume “Violet of Parma” owes its existence to this beloved Duchess and her love for this particular flower. Parmigianino’s and Correggio’s masterpieces are evident partly in the Pilotta Palace, Castle of Fontanellato, Abbey of St. John and Abbess’ Chamber.
